The Critically Endangered Houston Toad
Despite its name, the Houston Toad (Bufo houstonensis) no longer lives near Houston, Texas. Instead, the largest breeding population of toads takes refuge in Bastrop State Park. Scientists believe that the number of Houston Toad living in the wild numbers in the mere hundreds.
The Houston toad is our only endemic Texas toad. This means that is comes from Texas and no where else! It it truly our toad and we don’t want to lose our toad! Will you help our campaign to tell people about the toad?
